A total of 28 South African golfers have progressed to the weekend at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open after successfully making the cut following Round 2.
Pepperell and Brown Lead; Lamprecht Close Behind
Englandβs Eddie Pepperell and Denmarkβs Hamish Brown share the lead at eight under heading into Round 3. South Africaβs Christo Lamprecht is the highest-placed South African, just one shot behind the leaders at seven under par.
Also in contention are Louis De Jager at six under, along with Jacques Blaauw, Dylan Naidoo, and Christiaan Burke, who sit at five under par.
Lamprechtβs Aggressive Play Keeps Him in the Hunt
Lamprecht recorded a second-round 68 to complement his opening-round 69, placing him one stroke off the lead. His performance was marked by six birdies and an eagle in Round 2, building on the six birdies he scored in the first round.
However, his aggressive playstyle led to two bogeys and a double bogey on the par-3 eighth hole. If Lamprecht can limit errors while maintaining his birdie streak, he will remain a strong contender through the weekend.
De Jager Consistent, Blaauw, Naidoo, and Burke Stay in Contention
Louis De Jager, 37, also posted a second-round 68 to reach six under par. His bogey-free round featured four birdies on the back nine, carding a back-nine 32 after an even-par 36 on the front nine.
Three South AfricansβJacques Blaauw, Dylan Naidoo, and Christiaan Burkeβare tied at five under par, trailing the leaders by three strokes.
Naidoo and Burke both produced bogey-free second rounds, crucial for staying in contention over the final two days. Burke shot a five-under 67, highlighted by five birdies, following an even-par first round. Naidoo recorded a three-under 69 to build on his opening-round 70.
Blaauw, meanwhile, will aim to improve after a second-round 71, which included four birdies but was offset by three bogeys.

On his first trip to Mauritius and treating it as a belated honeymoon with his wife, Jennifer, Eddie Pepperell is in the mix to win.
