The highly anticipated 2023 CSA Awards is set to take place on the 7th of July at Vodaworld in Midrand, marking the first in-person ceremony since the lifting of COVID-19 lockdowns. This prestigious event serves as a platform to recognize and honor the outstanding achievements of South African cricketers during the past season.
The evening promises to be a glamorous affair, filled with excitement and anticipation, and will be broadcast live on SuperSport, allowing fans across the nation to join in the celebration. A range of professional awards will be presented at the ceremony, encompassing both national and domestic levels of the game. Additionally, several nominees have been confirmed for various pathway awards, recognizing promising talent and potential.
One player who has demonstrated exceptional skills across all formats of the game is Anrich Nortje. He stands out as the sole nominee in all four major men’s categories: T20 International Player of the Year, One-Day International Player of the Year, Test Player of the Year, and SA Men’s Player of the Year. Joining him as strong contenders in three of these categories are Temba Bavuma and Aiden Markram, who have showcased their prowess in One-Day Internationals, Test matches, and as key players for the national team.
The future of South African cricket looks promising, with young talents such as Gerald Coetzee, Tony de Zorzi, and Tristan Stubbs receiving well-deserved nominations for the International Men’s Newcomer of the Year award. Domestically, the past season witnessed a series of thrilling encounters, captivating audiences with intense competition. Notable contenders in various key categories include Beyers Swanepoel, Bamanye Xenxe, Stefan Tait, Jordan Hermann, Ryan Rickelton, and Tony De Zorzi.
A distinguished panel of judges has been responsible for selecting the nominees for the CSA Awards. The panel comprises cricketing legends and experts such as Ashwell Prince, Crystal Arnold, Patrick Moroney, Firdose Moonda, Khanyiso Tshwaku, and Andrew Samson.
Expressing his excitement, CSA Chief Executive Officer Pholetsi Moseki commented, “It is an absolute honor to congratulate all the nominees for the 2022-23 CSA Awards.”
