Kerwin Noemdo Clinches Bronze: Para Athlete's Remarkable Achievement Adds to Team South Africa's Medal Tally
Kerwin Noemdo showcased his exceptional skills by securing a well-deserved bronze medal in the Men’s F46 shot put final at the World Para Athletics Championships.
Noemdo’s remarkable effort of 15.30m proved to be the key to claiming the third spot, surpassing Croatia’s Luka Bakovic by a mere 10 centimeters.
A Sporting Talent with Academic Success
Known not only as a phenomenal Paralympian but also an academic achiever, Noemdo holds two degrees from the University of Stellenbosch.
The Maties Parasport Sportsman of 2019 was awarded a Postgraduate Diploma in HIV/Aids Management from SU’s Africa Centre for HIV/Aids Management. In 2017, he received a BSc degree in Conservation Ecology.

Team South Africa's Impressive Performance
This bronze medal marks Team South Africa’s third podium finish at the 2023 Championships, adding to their collection of one gold, one silver, and one bronze.
Juanne Le Roux, Noemdo’s fellow South African teammate, displayed exceptional skill in the Women’s F46 Shot Put final, securing a commendable 5th position. In doing so, she set a new South African record with a remarkable distance of 10.47m.
