WINDHOEK — A spirited solo effort from rising star Dewald Brevis was not enough to save a reshuffled South African T20 side from an opening-day defeat, as hosts Namibia claimed an 18-run victory in the tri-series opener in Windhoek.
The result marks Namibia’s second consecutive T20I triumph over South Africa, keeping their unblemished head-to-head record intact in a landmark seven-match series that also features Zimbabwe.

South Africa’s fielding unit suffered an early setback when seamer Lutho Sipamla pulled up with a left hamstring injury midway through his second over, leaving the attack a bowler short.
However, the Proteas’ spin contingent triggered a dramatic middle-overs turnaround:
- Fortuin (2/17) broke the opening stand by bowling Steenkamp, before later dismissing his opposing skipper, Gerhard Erasmus.
