Rain initially marred the start of the South Africa-Netherlands showdown, causing a delay before the teams finally took to the field just prior to 4 pm IST. Consequently, the match was shortened to a 43-over affair, with specific bowling limitations in place. Despite the Proteas gaining an early advantage and having the Netherlands at 7 wickets down for 140 runs, Dutch skipper Scott Edwards’ impressive unbeaten 78, accompanied by a resilient performance from former South African player Roelof Van der Merwe (29 off 19 balls), and Aryan Dutt’s unbeaten 23 off 9 balls, allowed the Netherlands to post a competitive total of 245/8.
